Context
Currently two 4-storey apartments blocks at 1337 Saunders St and 1340 Sussex St built in the 1969 and 1973 respectively
Status
May 2026: Bylaw No. 3158 was adopted on September 29, 2025 to amend the zoning to allow for high-rise building. Tenant relocation process is continuing with construction expected to begin in 2026. On March 11, 2026 revised plans were presented to the Esquimalt Design Review Committee. On April 27, 2026 Esquimalt Council voted unanimously to issue a development permit.
The two existing buildings on site at 1340 Sussex Street and 1337 Saunders Street will be demolished in the fall and construction is expected to begin in eaerly 2027 with a 2029 completion date.
