Context
The original Nellie McClung library branch which was built in 1976 and rebuilt in 1991 following a fire. The new library will the second largest in Greater Victoria Public Library network and prior to demolition was the busiest branch for physical circulations.

Most recent update (undated) on District of Saanich's website: "Saanich’s new Library and Affordable Housing Project has marked another significant milestone, as a development permit has now been issued to move the project forward. A building permit application is under review, and a demolition permit has been issued. Campbell Construction was awarded the construction management contract in response to a request for proposal issued by the Capital Region Housing Corporation. Contractors will be proceeding to fence and secure the site for demolition starting on November 17, 2025."
