Status
May 2026 - On May 4, 2026 Saanich council unanimously approved a development variance permit which will be valid for 48 months in the hopes provincial funding is restored to the project in the next four years. The Province has indicated to UVic that funding will be held back for five years.
February 2026 - the Provincial Government announced in its 2026 Budget that the Sinclair Road Housing tower at UVic will be delayed with an expected completion now in 2034 instead of 2029.
On October 3, 2025 UVic provided a status update: "UVic has held two phases of community consultations to date, sharing information and receiving input from neighbours and other interest-holders that will help shape the project. A final phase of engagement is anticipated in early Spring 2026 to share the design and provide updated information on the construction process." Construction was expected to begin Spring 2026 and complete in 2029
